How to use 还是？
I understand that "还是" can be used in the pattern "是…还是" to present an either-or choice, e.g.你是吃饭还是吃水果.
But sometimes 还是 is not used like this. I see sentences like 你还是来了, is it different from 你来了？Why should "还是" be used here?

In sentences like 你还是来了, 还是 is used to indicate that the decision is made after consideration.
- 他还是放弃了那份工作。He gives up that job after all.
- 我还是决定去美国。I finally decide to go to USA.
还是 can also be used to indicate that the situation keeps unchanged, which can be translated to "still":
- 他还是喜欢唱歌。He still likes singing.
- 丽丽还是爱着孙浩。 Lily still loves Sun Hao.
